The York team provides a range of supported accommodation to people
in the area who are in housing need. Support varies according to the
needs of the individual.
Hostel
24 hour supported self catering accommodation for five young vulnerable
people, primarily aged between 16-17, but can be up to 21, who require
intensive support before moving on to independent living. The support
staff are on hand 24hrs a day, seven days a week. Customers are encouraged
to play an active part in their support plan, and to take ownership
of their development. Examples of the support that is provided are;
learning to develop positive routines life skills, assistance in finding
employment, (paid /voluntary), education courses, building social confidence
and emotional support. We will also provide support and advice regarding
tenancy issues and housing benefit claims. Following a successful move
out of the hostel project, customers may then be offered continued support
through our Safer Housing Scheme.
Safer Housing Scheme
This move-on–scheme for 6 young people mainly follows on from
our Supported Hostel project and helps to facilitate young people’s
move into their own independent accommodation.
Independent Living Scheme
Provides Floating support for up to 12 young people aged 16-25yrs of
age to enable them to live independently.
Probation Floating Support Scheme
Provides support for up to 15 people who are 18+, who have previously
offended.
Substance Misuse Work
The service provides specialist support, advice, crisis intervention
and harm reduction to customers that are currently being supported by
Foundation Housing in York. The age group for this scheme is 16+. Support
is offered via information giving, group sessions, or more intensive
one to one support over a period of up to 6 months. Each Referral is
assessed for level of intervention and a support plan is completed for
all. The worker also acts as a resource base of information for the
York Team. The scheme is funded via Selby and York Primary Care Trust.
Youth Offending Support Worker
This is a partnership scheme with the Youth Offending Team, to provide
specialist advice and support to 16/17 year olds who are experiencing
difficulties with accommodation. The workers role is to also provide
preventative action, which can include mediation with families. The
worker also acts as a resource base for the Youth Offending Team on
housing issues. All referrals are received via the Youth Offending Team.

The
Bond Scheme
The Bond Scheme is aimed at people on
low incomes or benefits. It is a way to help prospective tenants access
private accommodation by providing or guaranteeing a bond. We also offer
short and long term support to ensure the tenancy is successful.
For Landlords we can ensure
properties are maintained to a good standard.
We support tenants to access services,
we can ensure rents are paid on time and we liaise between tenants and
landlords.
